How long should a uPVC window last for?
The lifespan of a window varies on usage and if regular maintenance has been carried out. The standard guarantee is around 10 years but with scheduled maintenance, we've seen them last many years past this.
Is it always cheaper to repair a uPVC window than it is to replace it?
The majority of the time yes it is cheaper to repair than replace a uPVC window, however there's always exceptions where it's no longer cost effective. At this point it would be discussed with the customer whether to repair or replace.
Do you replace misty/broken glazing units for double glazed windows?
Yes, we can replace units of all types including double or triple glaze. laminated, toughened etc even PVC solid panels if needed.
What causes misted glass?
There are multiple reasons, from seals just breaking down due to age, incorrect fabrication or installation. We have a thorough checklist that we run through every time we replace a glass unit, that checks for defects that may have contributed to the breakdown of the original unit.
Can you make my home secure while you order a new glazing unit?
Sometimes we can do same day turn around, but in instances that we can't, then yes we will fully secure the window.
Do you offer emergency uPVC window repairs?
We do, we stock most of the common type locks and handles, and also have temporary overnight locks that we can fit when we need to order in a part.
Why isn’t my uPVC window opening properly?
There are multiple issues that lead to this, from faulty/seized locks and hinges to even just incorrect adjustment. All this will be assessed at the appointment, and explained to you so we can resolve the problem quickly.
Is it always possible to repair a uPVC window?
Most are repairable, but on occasion some are just beyond economic repair, at this point we will give advice as to the best way to progress.
Can you replace a window lock or handle?
Yes, with our network of suppliers we can access most of the commonly used locks/handles and even some of the less common types too
How much will a uPVC window repair cost?
It's dependent on what work is required, if we can't fix it or secure it on the day (and you're based within 15 miles of Redditch) then it won't cost you anything*
My window is draughty. Can you repair it?
Yes we can change rubber seals, hinges, locks and re-silicone around the frame if that is the cause
Can you repair window hinges?
We stock most common types of window hinge and can replace them in pairs as recommended, if the original are beyond repair
Do you repair Velux or roof windows?
Unfortunately due to height access we do not repair Velux or roof windows.
Do you do conservatory repairs?
Yes, from leaks to glass to polycarbonate roof sheets, we can repair or replace what ever is required.
Do you repair sash windows?
No, you would need a specialist carpenter or putty glazier for those.
Does my window need to be replaced?
Its dependant on what work is required, we can offer a full assessment and discuss your options to proceed.
Do you repair tilt and turn windows?
Not any longer unfortunately, too often we find the faulty part has become obsolete and it then becomes an expensive repair due to all new gearing/lock system being required.
Is your window repair work is guaranteed?
We issue our standard one on parts but can also offer an insurance backed guarantee at additional cost if so required
What can I do if the original installer refuses to rectify a poor uPVC installation?
We can compile a full report for you to send to the original suppliers, with our suggestions for what's required to put it right, if they still wont rectify we can give you a quote for the repairs ourselves.
My windows seem ok but is there a way to make them retain more heat?
Depending on the age of your windows, sometimes we can install upgraded glass units such as Argon gas filled ones, this has shown to increase the thermal efficiency of the glass and helps retain the heat better.
I'm getting condensation on my window, what can I do?
If your windows are over a certain age then they may not have the trickle vents that are now required under the new building regs. These help with circulating fresh air in the rooms, which will contribute to reducing condensation. These can in some instances be retro fitted
